Aquaman Box Office Surpasses $1 Billion Worldwide

Alec Bojalad Jan 14, 2019

James Wan's Aquaman has become the first DC Extended Universe film to reach $1 billion at the worldwide box office.

Arthur Curry? More like Arthur Hurry to the box office to make Aquaman a lot of money.

That horrific joke can only mean one thing: the box office receipts for Aquaman have now surpassed $1 billion worldwide! Box Office Mojo reports that as of January 13, 2019, Aquaman's worldwide earnings stand at $1.02 billion. The DC Extended Universe film reached the $1 billion landmark following a successful fourth weekend in theaters, taking in $17.26 million domestically and $27.9 million worldwide, good for second behind The Upside.

Improbably, Aquaman is the first DC Extended Universe film to reach $1 billion. Of all the previous entries into Warner Bros. attempt at a Marvel-like cinematic universe, only Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice ($873.6 million) and Wonder Woman ($821.8 million) came close. Justice League, which featured Aquaman, himself, along

Aquaman’s Jason Momoa Wants Lobo As The Sequel’s Villain

Aquaman has just officially crossed the $1 billion mark at the box office, making James Wan’s movie the most successful entry in the Worlds of DC franchise to date. It’s also now beaten The Dark Knight, the holy grail of DC cinema, in terms of overall gross as well. All of this is to say that we’re pretty darn sure that Warner Bros. is already starting to prep for a sequel featuring Jason Momoa’s King of Atlantis.

Speaking of which, who would the superhero world’s latest leading man want to see turn up in the proposed Aquaman 2? Previously, the actor’s named Ezra Miller’s Flash and Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman as two of his Super-Friends from Justice League that he’d like to team up with in his next DC film. When asked the question again by BadTaste.it though, Momoa decided to go

Aquaman tops $1 billion at the global box office, surpasses The Dark Knight

Aquaman may have been knocked from the top of the domestic box office by The Upside this weekend, but Warner Bros. is celebrating a major milestone today with the DC Extended Universe blockbuster crossing the billion dollar mark at the global box office.

With $287.9 million from North America and $734.2 million domestically, Aquaman has now banked a whopping $1.020 billion. It’s the first Dceu release to hit the billion dollar mark, and only the third DC movie in history to do so after The Dark Knight ($1.003 billion) and The Dark Knight Rises ($1.085 billion).

At this point, it seems likely that Aquaman will just about have enough in the tank to surpass The Dark Knight Rises, making it the most successful DC movie of all time.

Honestly, who would have thought it?

Aquaman Crosses $1 Billion And Passes The Dark Knight

'Aquaman' Ready for Fourth Week at #1; 'Dog's Way Home' & 'Upside' Compete for Runner-Up
With the new year underway, this weekend sees three new releases vying for a spot in the top ten, though once again not one of them is likely to dethrone Aquaman from the weekend's top spot, which is where WB's latest entry into the DC Extended Universe looks to remain for the fourth straight weekend in a row. As for the week's new releases, Stx will debut The Upside, a remake of 2012's global hit The Intouchables, into over 3,000 theaters; Sony will give family's a new option with A Dog's Way Home; and Entertainment Studios debuts the Keanu Reeves thriller Replicas. At the same time Focus will go nationwide with the release of On the Basis of Sex after two weeks in limited release and Annapurna will do the same with If Beale Street Could Talk. After holding on even better than expected last weekend, look for WB's Aquaman

‘Avengers’ crew to the rescue as the Oscar telecast will likely go hostless for the first time since 1990

‘Avengers’ crew to the rescue as the Oscar telecast will likely go hostless for the first time since 1990
Now that comic actor Kevin Hart has adamantly just said no to overseeing the Oscars ceremony that will air on ABC on February 24 after being called out for past homophobic tweets, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is recruiting presenters from the Marvel Comic Universe to bring some mainstream muscle to the show. Since Disney owns both Marvel and ABC, it makes sense that it would summon the blockbuster might of its most popular franchises. After last year’s record low ratings for the annual parade of glitz and glamour, the three-hour-plus production could use some pow.

The superhero squad has assembled as presenters before on the then-Kodak Theatre stage after 2012’s “Avengers” became the year’s No. 1 grossing blockbuster. Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), Mark Ruffalo (The Hulk), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye) and Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury) all gathered onstage. Missing were

Here’s How To Survive An Entire Year Without Any New Doctor Who

2019 started with a big treat for Doctor Who fans as New Year’s Day brought us “Resolution,” the show’s annual winter special that featured Jodie Whittaker’s Thirteenth Doctor facing off against a Dalek for the first time. Unfortunately, the year definitely peaked early for Whovians, as there won’t be another episode of the show until 2020 – “very early 2020,” to be exact.

So. what are Who fans to do for the next 12 months of their lives? Well, thankfully, there’s still a lot of other Doctor Who content coming this year to keep us occupied and help keep the spirit of the series alive, even if the Tardis won’t materialize in this dimension for a while yet.

First of all, the obvious place to start is to just go back to the beginning and rewatch some classic Doctor Who. If that’s tickled your fancy, then you’re in luck.

Golden Globes Viewers Really Didn't Know Christian Bale Spoke Like That, Huh?

Golden Globes Viewers Really Didn't Know Christian Bale Spoke Like That, Huh?
Christian Bale's rollicking, expletive-filled speech wasn't the only thing that surprised viewers of the 2019 Golden Globes. At it turns out, a whole lot of people didn't realize the Vice actor, who won the award for best performance by an actor in a musical or comedy film, spoke like that. So, we're here to dispel any lingering confusion and confirm that he does in fact speak like that because he's Welsh - well, technically.

Christian was born in Haverfordwest, a quaint town in Pembrokeshire, Wales, in 1974. His parents, however, are both English, and he spent a good amount of his adolescence in Surrey and Dorset in England. For that reason, Christian has insisted on a number of occasions that he considers himself more English than Welsh. While he's clearly mastered the American accent after memorable roles in American Psycho, The Dark Knight, and The Big Short, you have to chalk it up to good acting.
